Shooting Centers
Centers have transformed from the least likely shooters in basketball into reliable three-pointer threats.
Before the chart
What does a "shooting center" actually mean?
This page tracks NBA centers — the position historically anchored in the paint — and how often they attempt and make three-point shots. Each point on the chart represents one season. When the line rises, centers as a group are stepping further from the basket and changing the way the position is played.
Center (C)
Traditionally the tallest player on the floor, stationed near the basket for rebounds and interior scoring.
3PA / 3PM
Three-point attempts and three-point makes. Volume shows how often centers shoot from deep; makes show how often they convert.
3P%
Three-point percentage. A measure of shooting accuracy from beyond the arc, independent of volume.
